For those of you that are new, welcome to Next Gen Ideas, the newsletter that provides the catalyst for entrepreneurs and innovators looking for a little creative spark. Each week, we will send 5 ideas that have randomly popped into our heads as regular everyday people – we’re no billionaires, no business gurus, just some people with overactive imaginations.

This week we are introducing a NEW section to our weekly newsletter. The goal of this newsletter is to inspire our readers, and we’ve tried to by getting the creative wheels turning with 5 business ideas each week. Now we want to motivate by example – diving headfirst into the process of ideation to action by attempting to start a business out of one of our previous ideas. Follow along in our Into the Water section below, where we will be making mistakes, overcoming hurdles, learning a lot, and sharing everything with you!

As always, if you ever try to action one of these ideas or have actioned them in the past, please reach out and share your experience with us! We’d love to feature you in a newsletter.

Idea 1: Kayaking Rower Machine

Most rowing machines simulate crew rowing, which is great… unless you actually kayak. This machine is designed to mimic single-paddle kayaking mechanics, engaging rotational core movement, uneven pull resistance, and realistic stroke timing. It targets paddlers, anglers, adventure racers, and outdoor enthusiasts who want off-season training that actually translates to time on the water.

Idea 2: Hanging Brackets with Built-In Level Tubes

Everyone owns a level. Everyone still hangs something crooked. These brackets solve that by integrating small level tubes directly into the hardware itself, so alignment happens during installation—not after multiple holes are drilled. It’s a tiny change with outsized satisfaction for DIYers, contractors, and anyone tired of eyeballing it and hoping for the best. Don’t let the image fool you, there’s certainly different aesthetics that can be offered.

Idea 3: A Collapsible Fire Pit with an Integrated Ash Container

Fire pits are great until it’s time to clean them. Better yet, ever wish there was a firepit when you were at a more “primitive” campsite than you realized, or a friend’s house that was more of an indoors-y person? This design collapses for transport but includes a sealed ash containment system so cleanup doesn’t involve dumping soot into the wind. It’s built for campers, renters, tailgaters, and backyard users who want fire without the mess—or the permanent footprint.

Idea 4: Kitchen Drawer Organization as a Service

Most people don’t need new cabinets. They need their drawers to make sense. People already pay tons of money for a service that comes in and organizes their closets and garages, but how about a room in your house with arguably the most use? This service sends professionals to measure, design, and install optimized drawer layouts using modular systems tailored to how the household actually cooks. It’s faster and cheaper than a remodel, and the payoff is daily—every time someone opens a drawer and doesn’t sigh.

Idea 5: A Steering Wheel That Vibrates When You’re Getting Sleepy

Instead of alarms or flashing lights, this system monitors subtle indicators like steering micro-corrections, grip pressure, and driving patterns to detect fatigue. When risk rises, the wheel vibrates gently but unmistakably, forcing physical engagement before reaction time drops. It’s a safety feature that meets drivers where their hands already are—and could be especially valuable for long-haul drivers and night commuters, or those of us with particularly heavy eye lids in moving vehicles.

Into the Water

Here we will share updates, lessons learned, and critical decisions we are making throughout the process of ideation to implementation. We hope you all enjoy! Let us know what you think, any questions you have, or if you are trying to do the same with one of your own ideas!

This week we’re telling the story of the inception of the idea we will be giving our readers weekly updates on – gym bags that remove sweat from your clothes. This idea all started with two things: a problem and an observation.

Problem: After working out, we have to shove our gross, sweaty clothes back into our gym bag, where they ripen throughout the entire day before we get home and empty the mildewy rags.

Observation: One day we hung our sweaty clothes up to air out in an empty office, where a friend had a small dehumidifier, you can get from Amazon running – at the end of the day, the clothes were completely dry and didn’t smell at all.

Thus, our idea was born! Could you create a gym bag that used dehumidification technology to dry clothes while they are in the bag? The first step was one that most people stop at – we needed to convince ourselves, more than anyone else, that we were capable of running with this idea. Next week, we’ll tell you the step-by-step process we followed to do just that!

See you next week for more…
